Beaches in Point Beach to Be Open Memorial Day Weekend or Earlier

Jenkinson's, Risden's, Martell's, Bradshaw's and Maryland Avenue beaches to be open

The public beaches in Point Pleasant Beach will be fully open by Memorial Day weekend or before, company officials said on Friday afternoon.

While some Sandy-bashed beaches at the Jersey Shore are not going to be fully open by summer's unofficial start, those in Point Beach are on track to be accessible and staffed as usual.

"The beaches will be open 100 percent the weekend before Memorial Day weekend and everything will be safe and clean, as it was last year," said Anthony Storino, president of Jenkinson's.

Carla Vitale, daughter of Jay Vitale, owner of Aqua-Serve, said that the Maryland Avenue and Bradshaw's beaches will be open this summer as usual. Aqua-Serve runs both beaches, including staffing lifeguards, badge checkers and providing portable toilets.

She said the two beaches on the south end will open on Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend, be open on weekends only through the end of June and then open seven days a week through Labor Day weekend.

The Maryland Avenue beach is the only section of beach in the municipality that it owns. The town contracts with Aqua-Serve to run the beach.

Martell's beach will also be open, according to the company website.
