Halloween Parade Still On, But After-Party Canceled

Bay Head church also cancels a Sunday event

While the Halloween parade is still on for noon Sunday, the party afterwards is canceled, the Point Borough Chamber of Commerce announced early Saturday afternoon.

The parade scheduled to start at noon Sunday and head east on Bridge Avenue is still a go, but the "finish line party" at Community Park afterwards, which was a new addition this year, is canceled, the chamber announced on its Facebook page.

There will still be a trophy ceremony for costume contest winners at Community Park after the parade.

The chamber is changing plans a few hours after the Borough began asking residents to evacuate on a voluntary basis.

In other news of Sandy canceling plans, the Annual Tailgate Party/Silent Auction event at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Bay Head has been canceled due to the impending storm, Pastor Scott Bostwick said Saturday. The event was scheduled for Sunday at 3:30pm. For further information, please call the church at (732)892-5926 or email bayheadumc@aol.com.
