Comcast Cable customers in Point Pleasant, Point Pleasant Beach and the rest of Ocean County will have high-definition feeds of Philadelphia local channels by the end of the week, the company said Monday.
The carriage of the channels was supposed to have begun last Friday, but while some aspects of to the company's high-def lineup were completed, the Philadelphia additions never appeared.
"We did need to delay some of those additions but we fully expect them to be available by the end of the week," said Jennifer Bilotta, a company spokeswoman, on Monday.
Most of the changes to Comcast's lineup – deleting legacy feeds of HD channels in the 200s range, as well as the addition of a few other channels including WLNY, a Long Island, N.Y., station – were completed.
The delay could cause some confusion for Philadelphia Eagles fans.
The team is scheduled to play a preseason football game against the New England Patriots Monday night at 8 p.m. which will air in high definition on WPVI (ABC) and ESPN.
If the game is blacked out on ESPN due to local carriage agreements, Eagles fans in Ocean County will have to settle for a standard definition feed of the game.
Over the weekend, Mercer County fans of the New York Giants and Jets reportedly watched their teams in standard-def only after NFL Network was blacked out.
In those areas, Comcast was scheduled to add HD feeds of New York-based channels last week. Those channel additions were also delayed.
The new channel lineups, including the Philadelphia HD additions, apply to all three of Ocean County's Comcast systems.

All of NJ is certainly NOT NY Metro. The only part of NJ that is considered part of the NY Metro area Monmouth, Middlesex, Bergen, etc. It's a stretch to say even northern Ocean County is NY Metro. Anything south and west of Toms River is Philly Metro. Educate yourself before you open your big yap.
Anyone who has HD service and suffered this service interruption should call and request a refund. It's only a small amount per person to be sure, but if a few thousand customers call and get the refund, someone at Comcast might take notice.
