A.J. Perri Is Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

A.J. Perri Heating, Cooling and Plumbing will be participating in the 2013 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Point Pleasant Beach for the fourth consecutive year on October 20. In 2012 the AJP Walkers, as a team of co-workers, family members and friends, raised nearly $5000 for the American Cancer Society.

A. J. Perri’s director of marketing, Debbie Kern, is the team leader for the AJP Walkers.  Kern participated in the Making Strides walk for several years before joining A. J. Perri, and suggested that the leading heating, cooling, and plumbing company in Central New Jersey form a team.  The AJP Walkers participated for the first time in 2010; Kern has been the team leader each year.

“Many of us who walk are walking for someone we’ve known who battled breast cancer.  Others walk in honor of someone who may be battling some other cancer diagnosis.   Team members feel good about what we’re doing to support the effort and have a great time as well,” says Kern. “We’ve been lucky enough to have beautiful weather in the past, and the Point Pleasant location is a beautiful setting for a walk along the ocean with our co-workers, family and friends to benefit a great cause.”

Kern continues, “We’re doing something that is great for our bodies and our spirits. Watching the survivors and family members around us is quite inspiring.”

For this year, the AJP Walkers hope to beat their fundraising success of last year and have already raised almost $1000 toward that goal. “We appreciate every effort of our team and associates to help raise funds for this event; we know that every dollar we raise goes to help defeat breast cancer and help a woman or man who is battling it,” said Kern.

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk helps to fund groundbreaking research and help people in need receive the screenings and services that they require. Since 1993, more than nine million walkers have participated in walks in nearly 300 communities across the country and raised more than $528 million in the fight against breast cancer. In 2012 alone, $68 million was raised.
