Bay Head Residents Urged To Leave

Residents and visitors are asked to take precautions before Hurricane Irene strikes

The Bay Head Office of Emergency Management has recommended a voluntary evacuation before Hurricane Irene strikes the area.

Residents and guests are "strongly encouraged to take advantage of this voluntary evacuation, as a mandatory evacuation may be ordered as the storm continues," the department stated in a release.

All residents who evacuate should move all important items and papers off the floor on the lowest levels of their houses, and to secure their homes prior to leaving, the department says.
