Brian Williams at Stop & Shop

NBC News Anchor picks up a few items on Bridge Avenue

Attention shoppers:

If you were shopping at Stop & Shop on Bridge Avenue on Friday night and remember seeing a man who looked a lot like NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams in the aisles, it probably was the New Jersey native.

Shoppers and witnesses tell Patch that Williams, 51, was buying cereal and a few other items.

Williams, who often talks proudly about his upbringing in New Jersey – born in Ridgewood and raised in Middletown – was likely on his way to or from Bay Head Friday night.

Numerous websites – including Wikipedia – list him as a resident of Bay Head, although his current fulltime residence appears to be in suburban Connecticut, also according to Wikipedia.com.

Numerous Bay Head homeowners  are part-time, summer or vacation residents.

Williams, who has a daughter and son, was a volunteer firefighter while living in Middletown as a teenager and attended Brookdale Community College before heading off to Washington, D.C. to attend college and launch his broadcast journalism career.
