Latest Version Of Sandy Castle Clinches Guinness World Record

Standing 38 feet and 2 inches tall, Ed Jarrett's latest attempt at a world record with Sandy Castle, second edition, bested his last record by inches, according to officials from the Guinness Book of World Records this evening.

Jarrett called the world record designation a "sweet reward" in a prepared statement released to the media this evening, just minutes after the record was declared.

The second version of the Sandy castle was made from sand from the first version, which was also an attempt at a world record.

The vibrations from crews doing work on the boardwalk after Sandy led to cracks in the original Sandy sculpture, which led Jarrett to make the second attempt.

The second attempt, which will be on display near Jenkinson's aquarium from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. through November 3, is a holiday themed castle, featuring giant pumpkins surrounding a castle. The castle is topped with a tall spire, which helped ensure the record status.
