Point Pleasant Beach schools are ready to welcome back students for a new school year, according to presentations at the Board of Education meeting held this evening.
Thomas O'Hara and Terri King, principals at Point Beach elementary and high schools respectively, told Board of Education members that the schools were ready after weeks of preparation by custodial, support, teaching, and administrative staff.
King told the board that staff are learning the new data program that the school has adopted, called Genesis, to track student records.
She added that she was very excited about the freshman orientation program that would be held at the school this week.
Speakers from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office are expected to address the freshman class about issues like substance-abuse, cyber bullying, and other issues that the students may want to address.
