Republicans Win Seats in Point, Point Beach

The GOP took the majority of votes in Point and Point Beach in the election today, with all districts reporting.

Republicans Bob Sabosik, the council president, and newcomer Joe Furmato Jr. solidified the GOP's majority on the Point Pleasant Council, according to election results this evening.

According to the Ocean County Clerk's Office website - in Point Borough, Robert Sabosik received 4,007 votes, Joseph Furmato, 3,728 votes, and Democratic challengers Desiree Land and Suzann Cole received 1,713 and 1,792 votes respectively.

In Point Beach, Tom Vogel received 1,052 votes, Tom Toohey 1,040 votes, to Democratic challengers' Tom Davis' 698 votes and David Cavagnaro's 716 votes.

In the uncontested Board of Education races, in Point Borough, Susan Blake Byington received 2,747 votes, Sean T. Hagan 2,634 votes, and in Point Beach, Joyce Popaca received 834 votes and Eileen Flarity-Laterza 829 votes.
