Point Boro Mayor: Christie Support Shows He's Not Focused On "Petty Politics"

Point Pleasant Boro Republicans and Democrats are mixing it up over the race at the top of the ballot: New Jersey governor

As the election season winds down, Point Pleasant Boro Republicans and Democrats are mixing it up over the race at the top of the ballot: New Jersey governor.

The two sides are exchanging words over the Point Boro Democrats' `Facebook criticisms of Christie. One in particular carries the inscription, shared from Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbra Buono's page, saying: "Since Governor Christie took office, property taxes have skyrocketed. #TheChristieRecord."

Below that is a picture of Christie layered over a cartoon that mocks Christie's declaration, "We'll have property tax relief."

"Point Pleasant Borough Democrats criticize Governor Christie, yet their Mayor, Bill Schroeder endorsed the Governor for re-election publicly! I'm cofused..." the GOP said, on Facebook, in response.

UPDATE: Mayor William Schroeder responded with a comment: "It would appear the GOP is confused, not me! I am focused on the best direction for Point Pleasant, not on petty politics. Next time ask me!"

Political newcomer Suzann Cole will run with newcomer Desiree Land on the Democratic ticket in Tuesday's election against Republicans Bob Sabosik, council president, and newcomer Joe Furmato Jr.

The council currently has a narrow Republican majority.
