Congressman Jon Runyan of the 3rd Congressional District, who represents Point Pleasant Borough’s 13th and 14th voting districts, has endorsed Bob Sabosik and Joe Furmato, the 2013 Republican candidates for Borough Council
“It is with great enthusiasm that I fully support and endorse Bob Sabosik and Joe Furmato. It’s apparent to me that Bob and Joe have the town’s best interests at heart and will provide the strong leadership that the taxpayers deserve,” Congressman Runyan said in a prepared statement.
“Council-President Bob Sabosik led the charge to cut spending in Point Pleasant, and in the budget which was passed on September 27th, operating expenses were cut by $130,000 dollars. Regarding the Superstorm Sandy recovery, under Bob’s leadership the town obtained a community disaster loan worth $4.7 million dollars. Bob and Joe opposed FEMA’s draft ABFE maps from the time they were first released in December of 2012, and when the revised maps were released, all V-Zones were removed from Point Pleasant.,” the Congressman continued.
Sabosik and Furmato responded in the statement: “It’s not very often the Congressman weighs in on local races, and so we are honored to receive his endorsement. Congressman Runyan has been a great advocate for the taxpayers of Point Pleasant. Even though only part of our town falls into the 3rd Congressional District which he represents, Congressman Runyan constantly concerns himself with the needs of the people of Point Pleasant. We are proud to be a part of his team,” Council-President Bob Sabosik said.
“I would like to thank the Congressman for his endorsement. I am a newcomer to politics and government, and so was Congressman Runyan just a few short years ago. He has shown that everyday concerned citizens can go on to make great leaders. Bob and I will be fiscally conservative with our budgets, and we will finish the Sandy Recovery, two items which I think are also very important to Congressman Runyan,” candidate Joe Furmato said.
The election is Tuesday, November 5th, and polls are open from 6AM-8PM.
