Kimball Medical Center Hosts Free Diabetes Workshop
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month
More than 25.8 million people in the U.S. have diabetes, and 79 million Americans have prediabetes and are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Kimball Medical Center, a Barnabas Health facility, will host a free event to shed light on the disease on Wednesday, November 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Conference Center B at Kimball Medical Center, located at 600 River Avenue in Lakewood, in honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month in November.
Dietitians and registered nurses – all of whom are certified diabetes educators – will educate guests on diabetes, the risks, treatment, medications and nutrition, as well as provide free glucose screenings. A certified wound care nurse and podiatrist will offer foot screenings, and a Kimball pharmacist will be on-hand to answer medication-related questions.
