The 7th
Annual 5K and Fun Run hosted by the Point Pleasant
Boro Rotary Club will take place on June 14 at the Community Park on Bridge
Avenue. The fun run starts at 8:00 a.m. The 5K goes off at 8:30 a.m. on a flat
and fast course through the Bay Head Shores community.
The 5K
is named for Kevin A. Brue who lost a courageous battle with melanoma several
years ago. His father, John Brue Sr., is a Point Boro Rotarian and member of
the race committee.
Proceeds
from the event will go towards the club's efforts to help melanoma research and
to aid various charities and community-based organizations and groups.

OceanFirst
Bank, with branches in Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach, is the prime
sponsor for the seventh year. Investors Bank is the platinum sponsor.
This
year's 5K will again feature electronic timing to expedite same day finish results.
T-shirts are guaranteed to pre- registered runners. Trophies will be awarded to
the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K and first male and
female in the fun run. Awards in eight age groups will also be presented to
leading runners. There is also a trophy for the first father crossing the
finish line in the 5K.

Refreshments
for runners will be available before and after the race.
Early
registration, if completed by June 9, is $25 for the 5K and $30 after June 9. The
Fun Run fee is $15 up to and including race day registration. On June 13,
runners registered by June 9th can pick up race packets and enjoy some
complimentary refreshments at the Forte Restaurant, Bridge Avenue from 6:30
p.m. to 9 p.m.
