Local Businesses, Ocean Road School Support Cancer Concern Center during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Several local businesses in the Point Pleasant area, as well as Ocean Road School, are hosting fundraisers for the Cancer Concern Center in October. "Think Pink" fundraisers recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October and encourage individuals to donate to a local charity - the Cancer Concern Center of Point Pleasant Beach.

On Wednesday, October 9, students at Ocean Road School, in Point Pleasant, will participate in a walkathon to benefit the Ocean Road School Parent Teacher Organization and the Cancer Concern Center. Students are collecting donations, of any amount, from the local community.

On Saturday, October 12, the Cancer Concern Center and the Mark Burg Band will present a Fall Fundraiser from 3 to 7 p.m. at River Rock Marina Bar, Route 70 West, in Brick. Tickets are $25 and will be sold at the door. The fundraiser will include live music by the Mark Burg Band and Friends, a free buffet, drink specials, and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will benefit the Cancer Concern Center.

In October, Anytime Fitness Point Pleasant will offer a one-week membership for a $30 donation to the Cancer Concern Center. Individuals who make a $30 donation to the Cancer Concern Center can use the Anytime Fitness facility during staffed hours: Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fundraiser runs through October 31.

On Sunday, October 27, from noon-3 p.m., Vanity of Brielle will host its second annual Fashion Show, with all proceeds benefitting the Cancer Concern Center. Tickets are $35 per person (purchased in advance or at the door) and include a luncheon, one drink ticket, one door prize ticket, and the fashion show. A gift auction and silent auction will be part of the fundraiser as well.

For additional details, please contact Lisa Montalbano at the Cancer Concern Center (732-701- 0250 or lbano@comcast.net) or visit the Cancer Concern Center's Facebook page.

The Cancer Concern Center gladly will promote fundraisers that small businesses would like to organize for the center. All donations - large and small - are appreciated and utilized locally at the Cancer Concern Center.

The Cancer Concern Center is a small non-profit that has been assisting local cancer survivors for more than 15 years. Unlike larger organizations, the Cancer Concern Center is completely focused on supporting women and men with cancer who live in the Point Pleasant area. Programs include support groups, journaling, meditation, nutritional counseling, yoga classes, new wigs, and day-to-day emotional assistance at a small location on Route 35 South.

Since the Cancer Concern Center is not affiliated with any national non-profits, it is completely dependent on local donations in order to continue serving neighbors with cancer.
