Bulk Of $1.8 Billion In Federal Sandy Recovery Funds Still Unspent, Report Says

Only $416 million distributed so far

A year after the state received its first round of $1.8 billion in federal Sandy aid, more than three-quarters of the money remains unspent, the Christie administration’s latest performance report shows, according to a report in the Asbury Park Press.

Total expenditures through the end of March came to just $416 million, or 23 percent of the aid package, leaving 77 percent still in government coffers.

The administration says $1.3 billion “is in the pipeline or out the door,” but the report indicates that the bulk of that money falls in the former category, meaning the funds have been obligated, but not yet disbursed or spent.

Much of the as-yet-undistributed money is still tied up in the Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation, or RREM, program, which has been slowed by red tape and contractor problems.

Lonegan. And Rand Paul. For Chief Wahoo.
I understand - and apologize for becoming so indignant. I am working for those in the district, and have been, for YEARS. I am not wealthy...why? Because it has never been about the $$$. I have five kids. One has already graduated (Magna cum Laude), the second will do the same in two weeks with TWO degrees, (also M-c-L), third is a year ahead at RU, and the fourth is at my alma mater, studying Environmental Science, which he teaches as the ENVL/ECON director at Forestburg Scout Reservation...over 1200 SCOUTS have take ENVL SCI with him, one of the big "speed bumps" to Eagle. Where do you think HE learned it? My youngest is a brilliant young 8th grader, who will likely follow in her well-scholarshipped older siblings' footsteps. FIVE GREAT KIDS... THEY are my priority. I had planned to stay out of this until they were grown. The injuries put time on my hands...and, the more I saw, the more angry I got. I and others gathered the best folks we could for different offices around the State, so, when you say SANDY was the only issue, I beg to differ. It's IMPORTANT to me, because I have family, friends, and clients there...not because they can vote for me...because THEY need HELP. You don't know my character, but I am offended wholly when I see that of these two clowns above...although Lonegan, at least, is consistent. Look at that list, above. I coordinate ALL of those programs. ALL OF THEM. That's what we're about. Ask Lonegan - we kicked his ass in court last year over ballot reform, and our win will bite both parties in the ass on June 5th. . . . . . . If I had a nickel for every time someone said "Oh, my God! You guys are for real!". Find out more....

Hey Chief, sorry to tell you Rand Paul probably won't run, despite all the bluster. The state of Kentucky bars running for 2 offices at the same time. He is up for re-election to Senate in 2016. He's not gonna give that up, only to lose a presidential election. He petitioned state government to change the law. They declined. Some states have the law, it's known as the LBJ law, because he ran for Senate and V.P. in 1960.
