State and local officials will assess the construction progress Wednesday to rebuild a 12.5-mile segment of Route 35 on the Barnegat Peninsula that was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
In early-July, Governor Chris Christie announced the initial start of the $265 million construction project to rebuild Route 35 and now major construction operations are well underway.
A press conference will include New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner James S. Simpson will visit Brick Township with Mayor Stephen Acropolis.
The event will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brick Beach #1/Brick Police Department outpost parking lot, located in median of Route 35, between Bay Boulevard and Sea Breeze Way (around milepost 8.2)
In case of rain, the event will be held in the Pioneer Hose Company #1 Firehouse, located at 321 Route 35 northbound in Brick. This is located on Bay Boulevard, directly north of the Brick PD parking lot.
