Point Beach Residents Indicted on Brick Drug Charges

Grand jury also indicts Seaside Heights man for allegedly burglarizing a Point Beach home

Two Point Pleasant Beach women face numerous drug charges in connection with their arrests in June in Brick.

An Ocean County grand jury voted Thursday to indict Samara Katz and Amelia Alexander, both of Atlantic Avenue, on charges of possessing a variety of street and prescription drugs when they were arrested in Brick on June 16.

Katz faces seven third-degree counts of possession for allegedly having the following drugs in her possession: cocaine, oxycodone, zolpidem, phenobarbital, diazepam, morphine and suboxone. Alexander faces two third-degree counts for allegedly possessing cocaine and oxycodone.

Both women were released on summonses.

A grand jury also indicted a Seaside Heights man on charges of breaking into a Point Pleasant Beach apartment and stealing money and jewelry more than a year and a half ago.

Nicholas Merola of Ellicott Avenue is charged with one count of third-degree burglary for allegedly breaking into the 401 New Jersey Ave. apartment and one count of third-degree theft for reportedly stealing more than $500 worth of cash and jewelry on Feb. 11, 2010.

Merola was initially taken to Ocean County Jail but made $15,000 bail on June 7.
