Crash Victim's Attorney Holds Martell's Tiki Bar Responsible, Report Says

Paul J. Edelstein expressed concerns on behalf of client Dana S. Corrar, 55 and victim Ashley Chieco, a 26-year-old Bergen County woman, the report says

The attorney for an Old Bridge woman expected to be bedridden for five months in the wake of an Aug. 16 head-on collision expressed concern about bar industry precautions against drunken driving during the upcoming holiday weekend, according to mycentraljersey.com.

Paul J. Edelstein expressed those concerns on behalf of client Dana S. Corrar, 55 and victim Ashley Chieco, a 26-year-old Bergen County woman, who died in a wrong-way wreck when the vehicle she was driving on Route 18 south in Old Bridge smashed into Corrar’s 2000 BMW 323. The crash broke nearly all of Corrar’s bones from the neck down, according to mycentraljersey.com.

Although Chieco had not driven to Martell’s Tiki Bar in Point Pleasant Beach, she apparently drove off from the bar’s parking lot in a 2011 Hyundai Tucson, the same model that she owns, but in a different color, Edelstein said. The keys apparently were left by parking attendants in the vehicle, which was owned by a family that had spent the day at the beach, according to mycentraljersey.com.
