Fire Breaks Out on Washington Avenue Early This Morning

Roof fire occurs at 219 Washington Avenue, just after 4 a.m.

A structure fire at a Washington Avenue residence in Point Pleasant Beach this morning remains under investigation at this time, according to authorities.

Sgt. William Ippolito of the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department commented that the blaze at 219 Washington Avenue, which began just after 4 a.m. today, was a roof and/or attic fire.

“There were no injuries reported,” said Ippolito.

Emergency communications stated that the fire was quickly brought under control, at about 4:30 a.m.

Ippolito added that the Ocean County Fire Marshal’s office responded to the fire, and placed the blaze under investigation. Its cause remains unknown at this time.

The Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad and South Wall Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
