The Lovelandtown Bridge on Bridge Avenue in Point Boro will be closed on Wednesday night and Thursday morning for testing.
The bridge, which spans the Point Pleasant Canal, is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday night to around 6 a.m. on Thursday for operations testing on the vertical lift bridge.
Bridge Avenue eastbound motorists will be directed to use Beaver Dam Road north to Route 88, and east to Bay Avenue south to Bridge Avenue, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Bridge Avenue westbound motorists will be directed to use Bay Avenue north to Route 88 westbound, and then to Beaver Dam Road south to Bridge Avenue.
The Point Pleasant Canal is a part of the Intracoastal Waterway, a protected 1,500-mile inland water highway that runs from Maine to Florida. The U.S. Coast Guard requires the DOT to open the bridge on-demand for any approaching vessel.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change because of the weather or other factors, according to the DOT.
Motorists are also encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
