Man Wanted for Point Pleasant Beach Carjacking Apprehended in Essex County

Brown was being sought locally after the Point Beach incident outside the Green Planet coffee shop on Arnold Avenue

A man wanted for carjacking in Point Pleasant Beach and a double homicide in Seattle was apprehended Friday in West Orange, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.

Ali Muhammad Brown, 29, of Seattle Wash., was arrested without incident Friday afternoon in the area of the 200 block of Mount Pleasant Avenue. 

Brown was arrested on two open murder warrants for a double homicide on June 1 in Seattle and a warrant out of Point Pleasant Beach for the June 29 carjacking, the prosecutor's office said.

Brown was being sought locally after the Point Beach incident outside the Green Planet coffee shop on Arnold Avenue, where police say he pointed a handgun at a 46-year-old Washington, D.C. man and demanded his money and car keys. 

The victim complied, however the suspect ultimately fled the area on foot, police said.

Brown has been lodged in the Essex County Jail and will be turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The prosecutor's office announced on Monday that Brown may be staying with family in the Essex County area.

Brown is accused of gunning down 27-year-old Ahmed Said and 23-year-old Dwone Anderson in Seattle, according to a feature posted last month by Seattle's Most Wanted.

Brown was convicted of molesting his 6-year-old daughter.
