An Ocean County woman admitted Monday she stole about $130,000 from Granard Pharmaceuticals Sales and Marketing, of Manasquan, where she worked as chief financial officer, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
Janet Farese, 55, of Brick, pleaded guilty to an accusation charging her with second degree theft before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Ronald Lee Reisner, J.S.C. in Freehold.
In exchange for her guilty plea, a recommendation of five years in a state prison and a civil judgment in favor of the victim will be made at sentencing.
Farese was the Chief Financial Officer at Granard Pharmaceuticals Sales and Marketing, where she was responsible for submitting payroll information to the payroll management company for her employer.
In this capacity, Farese admitted she embezzled approximately $130,000 from the company over the course of nearly two years by inflating her legitimate paychecks and authorizing herself to receive extra paychecks.
Sentencing is scheduled for April 11 before Judge Reisner.
The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Andrew S. Fried of the Office’s Financial Crimes and Public Corruption Bureau.
Farese is represented by attorney Ryan Clark of Freehold.
