Middletown Man Sentenced in 10 Point Boro Burglaries

A Middletown man will be spending the next four years in prison after he admitted to committing a slew of burglaries dating back to January 2013.

John G. Killian, 36, was sentenced May 9 by Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels to four years in state prison for committing nine commercial burglaries and one vehicle burglary in Point Pleasant Borough between early January and mid May 2013.

Killian pleaded guilty to the charges in March; he had been arrested June 14, 2013.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Killian's criminal acts spanned over five months and included guilty pleas to nine commercial burglaries and one motor vehicle burglary. The establishments burglarized included O’Brien’s Florist, Touch of Class Hair Salon, Dairy Queen and various chiropractic and medical offices in the the borough. 

The items stolen included cash, checks, lidocaine bottles, hypodermic needles, amongst other things, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

Killian has been incarcerated since the time of his arrest, Della Fave said. The case was handled by Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Ehsan F. Chowdhry, who sought a five year prison term along with full restitution and no victim contact.
