Overturned Car Under Investigation in Point Beach

Car smashed into two others on Grove Street and then overturns

A three-car accident involving a black Volkswagon crashing into two other cars and then landing on its roof on Grove Street in Point Beach is still under investigation, police said on Tuesday.

A black Volkswagon crashed into two parked cars and landed on its roof shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday, said Fire Chief Mark Drew.

The driver of the VW was transported to Ocean Medical Center in Brick by Point Pleasant First Aid and Emergency Squad and was released later that afternoon, said Jerry Meaney, squad captain.

The Point Beach Fire Department was dispatched to the scene in front of 736 Grove St. because the car had overturned, which did not lead to a fire, and because there was some fluid on the ground, Drew said.

About 20 firefighters responded to the scene and cleaned up the fluid, Drew said.
