Point Beach Tells Residents to Move Cars to Higher Ground

Point Beach residents in flood-prone areas are urged by Emergency Management to move their cars to higher ground, which may be easier now that the town has lifted parking regulations in the railroad station parking lot next to Route 35 north.

A bulletin from Point Beach Emergency Management, which was broadcast on the town's Reverse 911 system, states:

"All residents, please be advised that our area will see an impact from a Nor’easter from Wednesday through Thursday. The nor’easter will start in the early morning hours of Wednesday and last through the morning hours of Thursday.

This storm will bring minor tidal flooding during the 2:48 pm high tide on Wednesday and moderate coastal flooding during the 3:19 am high tide early Thursday morning. 

With this in mind, all residents that live in flood prone areas should move their vehicles to higher ground to prevent damage. 

Parking regulations in the railroad station parking lot with be lifted until noon Friday so you can move your vehicle to higher ground. We expect no evacuations in any area of the borough at this time.

Residents should also be advised that they will see will 35 to 40 mph winds with some wind gusts up to 60 mph. 

With this in mind, residents should secure all outside property to prevent it from blowing into the street and other residents' property.

It should also be noted that snow is possible with this storm as well. With this in mind, residents are asked to please park their vehicles in their driveways to make it easier should the snow plows have to remove snow from the area.

Be advised that the Point Pleasant Beach Office of Emergency Management is monitoring this storm and will update you should the need arises. Residents are also encouraged to tune to 1630 am on your am radio for updates as well."
