UPDATE: Point Boro BB-Gun Robber To Be Sentenced In January

A 21-year-old Point Pleasant Boro man will face sentencing in January after pleading guilty to using a BB gun to rob a local gas station, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Daniel A. McShane has pleaded guilty to first-degree armed robbery of the Singin Gas Station in Point Pleasant in March 2012. The sentencing date is tentatively set for Friday, Jan. 3 at 9 a.m. before the Judge Francis R. Hodgson.

In that incident, McShane armed himself with a BB gun that appeared to be a real gun and cased out the Singin Gas Station in Point Pleasant Boro.

Under a ruse, he asked the attendant to help him look for an item. McShane then pulled out the firearm, pointed it at the attendant and demanded money, according to the prosecutor's office.

McShane robbed $322 from the attendant. However, a witness to the robbery called 911 and McShane was quickly apprehended by local police.

McShane has been continuously incarcerated since the date of the robbery arrest.
