Last Tuesday, police responded to a call for assistance from a resident on Burnt Tavern Road in Point Borough.

The resident reported that he was detaining a subject in his kitchen who stole jewelry from him, according to the statement. Officer Joe Torre conducted an on-scene investigation with assistance from Detectives Ed Miller and Joe Hynes and other officers.

While police did say the victim and the alleged thief did live in the same home, they did not want to specify if they are family members or what the relationship is.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of Patrzeba for theft of jewelry and possession of heroin.

"Further investigation linked Patrzeba to three additional residential burglaries which occurred over the last few months," the statement says. "Forced entry was made to each of the unoccupied residences to gain entry. Jewelry and cash were stolen from within each of the homes."

Patrzeba was charged with the following: four counts of burglary; four counts of theft; three counts of criminal mischief; one count of credit card theft; one count of fraudulent use of a stolen credit card; possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of hypodermic syringes.

Patrzeba was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility in lieu of $35,000.00 bail. Numerous pieces of jewelry were subsequently recovered and returned to the rightful owners.
