Point Boro Urging Residents to Move Cars to Higher Ground

Point Borough Emergency Management officials are warning residents to move cars to higher ground because flooding is anticipated.

The Emergency Management Facebook page says: "Flooding is anticipated. Please move vehicles to higher ground and take precautions to protect your property and yourselves."

Kiel Arnone, Deputy Coordinator of Borough Emergency Management, said that he, Mayor William Schroeder and Point Boro First Aid Squad volunteers will be in ambulances and fire trucks driving around parts of the Borough, especially those that are flood-prone, and warning residents to move cars and take precautions.

The Borough, like Point Beach, is not asking for voluntary evacuations.

In Mantoloking, police advise on their Facebook page that the town is closed tonight and tomorrow.

The page says: ""Due to the current updates from the National Weather Service, the Borough of Mantoloking will be closed for access tomorrow, December 27. Concerns are ocean wash over, back bay flooding, floating and flying debris. Please check the Mantoloking website for additional information."

The Bay Head police department has the following advisory on its Facebook page:

"We have been watching Winter Storm Euclid (yes, they name these now too) and there is some cause for concern over potential tidal flooding. While OEM is not calling for evacuations, we STRONGLY recommend residents in low-lying areas prone to flooding to move their cars to higher ground as soon as possible.

"Given the flood conditions last week, Euclid could be just as bad. High tide at the Manasquan Inlet is expected at 6:24 PM and in the back bay areas of the Barnegat Bay at 11:04 PM. Play it safe, and let's be careful out there."
