Point Boro Boy Hospitalized After Being Struck by Car

7-year-old boy en route to school hit on Albert E. Clifton Avenue, being treated at Ocean Medical Center in Brick

A 7-year-old Point Borough boy is being treated at Ocean Medical Center in Brick after being struck by a car on Albert E. Clifton Avenue on Wednesday morning, police said.

"The boy was conscious, alert and in fairly good condition" as he was moved into an ambulance after a car struck him in front of 711 Albert E. Clifton Ave., said Sgt. Lee Downs.

Police were called to the scene at 7:57 a.m. after the car struck the boy in the middle of the street, Downs said.

"The mom was upset, the driver was upset," Downs said, adding that the circumstances of how the impact occurred are still under investigation.

The boy, his mother and siblings were walking to school, Downs said, adding that the 7-year-old attends Ocean Road School.

No charges have been filed at this point, Down said.

Police are not yet releasing the names of those involved, the streets they live on, whether the driver of the car had any passengers or other details, pending an ongoing investigation by Officer Joseph Torre, Downs said.
