Brick Man Charged in Beaver Dam Road Hit and Run

Report: owner of vehicle tried to make repairs to cover up incident

A Brick man is being held in the Ocean County Jail, charged in a hit-and-run accident on Beaver Dam Road in Point Pleasant Borough, reports said.

According to the Asbury Park Press, Tyler Bartholomew, 20, is charged with hitting another man, who is also 20, on July 1 while the victim was walking on the shoulder of the road around 11 p.m.

Eventually, Officer Christopher Leonhardt was able to find the car and its driver through witness descriptions, the Press report said, leading to Bartholomew's arrest.

Also, the Press report said, the car's owner, Clare E. Mitchell, 21, of Shrewsbury, was charged with hindering after she allegedly tried to make immediate repairs to the car in order to cover up the damage.

According to jail records, Bartholomew is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury, assault by auto, aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim.
