Point Pleasant Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl

A 35-year-old Point Pleasant man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Pt. Pleasant Police Chief Lawrence R. Williams.

Jonathan Ivins is being held at the Ocean County Jail awaiting extradition to Kentucky on $100,000 cash bail.

On March 3, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Det. Lindsay Woodfield and Det. Edward Miller of the Point Pleasant Police Department arrested Ivins at his Lawrence Avenue home on an outstanding warrant issued by the Newport, Ky. Police Department.  The arrest warrant charges Ivins with first-degree Rape.

The warrant stems from a 2007 incident in which Ivins allegedly sexually assaulted the victim. The reported incident took place when Ivins was residing in Newport, Ky. At the time, the victim was 14 and Ivins was 29.

Kentucky authorities contacted the Point Pleasant Police Department and requested assistance in the defendant's arrest. Point Pleasant Police Lt. Adam Picca contacted the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit and advised them of the pending arrest. 

It was at that point Det. Woodfield was assigned to assist with the arrest and interview of Ivins.
