Point Pleasant Man Injured In Four-Car Collision

A 33-year-old Point Pleasant man was injured Sunday in a four-car collision on Route 70 in Manchester, police said.

At about 12:40 a.m., a 2012 Jeep Cherokee driven by Paul L. Stevens of Lacey was traveling eastbound on Route 70, approaching Route 539. when his vehicle allegedly failed to stop, police said.

The vehicle collided with a 2005 Toyota RAV, operated by Stacy R. Israel, 30, of Newtown, Pa., that had stopped for the red traffic signal.

Israel’s vehicle then struck a 2013 Chevrolet Sonoma, operated by Daniel J. Galvin, 33 of Point Pleasant, in front of her, that had stopped for the red traffic signal.

Galvin’s vehicle then struck the 1999 Ford F150, operated by Jody M. Bailey, 55 of Pine Beach, in front of him, that had also stopped for the red traffic signal, police said.

Two passengers in the Toyota RAV, a 22-year-old female experiencing neck pain and a 33-year-old female with a scalp laceration, were transported to Community Medical Center.

The driver of the Chevrolet Sonoma, Galvin, was transported to Community Medical Center with a facial laceration.

Several other passengers of the vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The crash is being investigated by Ptl. S. Wendruff of the Manchester Twp. Police Patrol Bureau and Ptl. R. Westfall of the Toms River Police Dept. Traffic Safety Section.

Quality Medical Transport assisted at the scene with medical treatment and transport.
