A 44-year-old Toms River man was arrested Thursday after allegedly saying he was going to "shoot" up the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant at Brick Plaza, police said.
Bertrick A. Artis was charged with robbery, while two others, Antinique M. Wright, 21, of Lakewood and Martez Williams, 22, of Asbury Park were arrested in connection with the incident.
approximately 7:30 pm, officers responded to the Chuck E Cheese restaurant at 56 Chambers Bridge Rd. for a report of a fight. Information received by Brick Police dispatch
indicated that a gun may be involved, police said.
An investigation on scene revealed that Artis responded to the restaurant and threatened a patron who was attending a party, police said.
Officers received information on scene that Artis had threatened to “shoot the place up," if the victim did not give him his money, police said.
Artis then attempted to stick his hands in the victim’s pocket to remove his money, police said. One of the victim’s family members heard this exchange between Artis and the victim and dialed 911.
Detectives Daniel Waleski and Thomas Cooney arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. Information developed by the detectives identified Wright and Williams as two other subjects that were involved in this incident.
Artis, Wright, and Williams were placed under arrest at the scene and transported to Brick Police Headquarters.
A warrant and bail for Artis was set by the Judge Wendel E. Daniels at $350,000 with no option to post 10 percent.
Artis was transported to the Ocean County Jail. Wright was charged with possession of other Weapons (stun gun) and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. Wright was released on a criminal summons.
Williams was charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 50 Grams and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Williams was released on a criminal summons.
