Two Local Men Charged by Ocean County

A Point Borough man and a Point Beach man charged by sheriff's department

Of the recent Ocean County Sheriff's Department arrests, two are from the Point Pleasant area.

The Ocean County Sheriff’s County Department made 1,490 arrests from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 and extradited 45 fugitives from out of state to face charges here in Ocean County.

In December,  125 subjects were arrested. Of those, 18 owed $233,842.40 in child support arrears and four were fugitives from justice.

The recent arrests of those from the Point area are as follows:

Kenneth L. Williams, 50, of Atlantic Avenue, Point Beach, was charged by Sheriff’s Detective C. Vazquez on Dec. 21 with being a fugitive from justice from York County, Pennsylvania, where he faces charges of failure to appear on original charges of theft by deception. Williams was lodged in the Ocean County Jail pending extradition back to the state of Pennsylvania.

James Meyers, 24, of Hulse Road, Point Borough, was arrested on Dec. 22 by Sheriff’s Detectives M. Pettrucelli and P. Sickinger on four county Superior Court warrants for violation of probation on original charges of shoplifting and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Meyers was processed and lodged in the Ocean County Jail with no option of bail.
