Accident at Bridge and Beaver Dam leads to a careless driving charge

A 17-year-old girl from Jackson was charged with careless driving after allegedly hitting a car driven by an 82-year-old woman from Brick at Bridge Avenue and Beaver Dam Road, police said Thursday.

Police were called to the scene at 8:26 a.m. Wednesday.

A 2005 Hyundai driven westbound on Bridge Avenue by the 17-year-old made a left turn onto Beaver Dam Road southbound, cutting off a vehicle traveling east on Bridge Avenue, said Captain Richard Larsen.

The driver from Brick was transported to Ocean Medical Center in Brick for a complaint of chest pain. Both vehicles were towed from the accident scene.

The accident was investigated by Officer Robert Wells. Police do not disclose names of minors or victims.

Years ago when i was a brand new driver, i had the same scenario happen to me, except i was going straight towards gerards liquors and the other car was making a left onto beaver dam road coming the other way on bridge ave. I hit him because he turned in front of me. He was real nice until he learned he was at fault and i had the right of way then wow what an irate jerk he became.
