UPDATE: Point Pleasant Beach Councilman: Get Rid Of Saggy Pants On Boardwalk

Stephen Reid, a Point Pleasant Beach councilman, suggested that actions should be taken towards a dress code policy on Point Pleasant boardwalk.

Last year, they were staying out too late. Now one councilman says the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk visitors ain't dressing too great.

Stephen Reid, a Point Pleasant Beach councilman, suggested that actions should be taken towards a dress code policy on Point Pleasant boardwalk.

"We should get a dress code for our boardwalk," Reid said when the Point Pleasant Beach Council met on Tuesday.

No other council members commented on Reid's plan.

Reid was approached about the issue, he said, by local merchants and residents who said young men wear their pants too low while walking on the boardwalk.

"They wear their pants too low and it's not a proper look," exclaimed Reid. "This is unacceptable."

He said this has been an issue happening at multiple boardwalks in New Jersey.

"It's not just our boardwalk," said Reid, saying the issue has become bigger in Point Pleasant Beach lately. "This issue is happening all over Jersey boardwalks."

Boardwalk merchants are taking action by asking people who don't dress appropriately to leave their establishments, Reid said.

"This is a family resort town and we want to keep it that way." replied Reid.
Councilman Reid plans on seeking what other towns are doing with this issue and inspect the effects of the ordinance passed.
