And Point Boro attorney nominated to serve as judge on Workers' Compensation Court

Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford is now nominated to serve as a Superior Court judge, according to an email from Gov. Christie's office on Tuesday afternoon.

On Feb. 25, it became clear that Lynch, a former Superior Court judge and Toms River resident, would be nominated when Christie filed a notice of intent to do so.

The email sent to the media on Tuesday afternoon states: "Yesterday (Monday), Governor Christie filed the following judicial nominations with the State Senate. The Governor’s nominations are subject to the advice and consent of the State Senate."

Christie also nominated Salvatore Martino, a Point Pleasant Borough resident and an attorney, and Russell P. Cherkos, of Waretown, to serve as justices on the Workers' Compensation Court.

Martino had run unsuccessfully this past November for a three-year seat on Point Borough Council.

Joseph Coronato, a Toms River resident in private law practice there, is waiting for state Senate approval to serve as the next county prosecutor.

Ford, who had previously served as a Superior Court judge, said last week that she did not know yet where she would be assigned.
