But the frigid air mass will break for a few days when the winds switch to the southwest this morning. The high today will be near 31 degrees, which coupled with sunny skies, should break up icy patches on roadways. Winds will be from 6 to 11 miles per hour.
Saturday night will be mostly clear, with a low near 24 degrees, practically a heat wave considering the last several days. Winds will be from the southwest at 9 to 11 miles per hour.
Expect mostly cloudy skies on Sunday, with a high near 47 degrees and winds from the southwest at 9 miles per hour. There's a slight chance of freezing rain early in the morning, then a chance of rain after 11 a.m.
The big change comes again on Monday. The day will start out with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 45 degrees. But temperatures will plummet to just 3 degrees by nightfall.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high only near 16 degrees.
