Point Boro Council Primaries Uncontested

In November, two Republicans will face two Democrats

The primaries today for two Point Borough Council seats are uncontested, but there will be a contest in November.

Republicans Antoinette "Toni" DePaola and William T. Borowsky are running uncontested, while Salvatore Martino and James McClure are running uncontested in the Democratic primary.

Of the four, DePaola is the lone incumbent.

Based on the sample ballot mailed to all Point Borough registered voters, it appears the only real choices today are for races in higher levels of government for Republicans or for Independents voting in the Republican primary.

Those choices are whether to re-elect state Sen. Joe Kyrillos or one of his three challengers, David Douglas Brown, Bader G. Qarmout, or Joe Rullo. And, for those in the 4th Congressional District, whether to re-elect Rep. Christopher Smith or his challenger, Terrence McGowan.

Today at 4 p.m. is the filing deadline for any Independent candidates running for council and for any candidates for the Borough Board of Education
