Point Boro Relief Station Moving to Tally's Site Mon.

Station with supplies will move to former car dealership lot on Bridge Avenue

The relief station outside Borough Hall in Point Borough will move to the old Tally's showroom, 2138 Bridge Ave., Point Borough, on Monday.

The move is expected to begin around 9 a.m., but it will take a while to move all of the supplies. Volunteers who are willing to help with the move are asked to arrive at Borough Hall by 8:30 a.m. Monday.

The relief station, which will close at 6 p.m. today (Sunday) needs:

  • volunteers, especially for the move to Tally's tomorrow morning
  • laundry detergent
  • batteries in all sizes
  • cleaning supplies
  • paper products, such as paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
  • baby products, like diapers
  • garbage bags

The Borough Facebook page also asks for residents to loan the relief station folding tables with their names and addresses and phone numbers written on them so they can be returned.

The station no longer needs clothes. Brave New World, Route 35 South, Point Beach, which is collecting and distributing supplies today, also is no longer accepting clothing donations.

Editor's Note: If you know of a reputable organization or business in the greater Point Borough-Point Beach-Brick area that is accepting donations of clothing, please advise in the Comments section. Thank you.

Where can we volunteer in Point Pleasant please..we spend our summers there and would really like to help clean it up.

The Durand Lodge on the corner of Route 35 South and New Jersey Avenue is sending volunteers in to Point Pleasant Beach to help homeowners clear out their homes.

As story reports, this center needs help moving tomorrow morning to the old Tally's site on Bridge Avenue and will continue to need help after that. If you do not want to help there, you can go to Point Boro First Aid Squad, 1200 Beaver Dam Rd., Point Borough, or to fire house next door. Or to the Masonic Durand Lodge on Route 35 So. and NJ Ave., as noted in comment above.

Those volunteers from the Masonic Lodge have only been described to me as 'magical.' Great job Chip and team. You are taking a HUGE weight off of many shoulders (literally and figuratively)! If anyone hears where they still need/are taking clothes, please let us know. (NOT Bay Head, Point Beach, or Point Boro! Thank you, but we all really want to see supplies go where they are NEEDED and we cannot use all of the clothes that we currently have. Storage space is too limited and food is too critical.)

As of today 11/6, what supplies aside from clothing are still needed? My family and I live in the Boro but our power fortunately has been restored. We would like to help. Thanks, Jess

I have been trying to reach the Masonice Lodge to see if they need volunteers this weekend but cannot get through to the number as I was told to do. Does anyone know a number that works or if they still need volunteers? I can be reached at jrw73@aol.com

I'm looking to donate gently used boys toys ages 4-7. Do you know where I can bring it?

The local relief centers and schools are really overloaded with stuff right now. But I hear the kids in the shelters don't have toys. You might want to contact Ocean County Office of Emergency Management about their shelter at Miller Air Park, Berkeley, or one of their other shelters, or call Monmouth County.
