Point Borough Plans Sept. 11 Ceremony at Community Park

Ceremony will honor those lost on Sept. 11, in addition to local fire, first aid volunteers

A ceremony honoring those lost on Sept. 11 will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Community Park on Bridge Avenue and Beaver Dam Road in Point Borough.

Mayor William Schroeder announced at the Tuesday night council meeting that a memorial ceremony will be held at the park on the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

He also said he is asking all borough residents to fly American flags to honor the day and "the American way."

"Right after Sept. 11, it seemed like the town was painted red, white and blue, with everyone's flags out," Schroeder said. "I would like to ask the residents to do that again."

Plans for the ceremony are ongoing, said Schroeder, adding he would like to have a local member of the clergy say a prayer, in addition to have the local fire and first aid squads in attendance.
