Point Pleasant Boro Hires New Police Officer, Safety Operator, Lifeguards

A new police officer will join the Point Pleasant Boro Police Department, along other new employees.

The council voted to approve another addition to the police department: a full time telecommunications operator.  Council members appointed Sean Malone as the public safety operator, whose job status has changed from part-time to full time.

The council also authorized the hiring of lifeguards for the 2014 summer season, a part-time assistant lacrosse instructor, and two temporary laborers for the Department of Public Works.

In other matters, council members discussed repairs to the borough skate park.  The borough is looking to restore the riding surface for skateboarders and make the necessary screw, surface and ramp replacements in the park.

The total price of the repairs have been estimated at $1,309.
