"Parents Night Out"

Point Boro parents looking for a night off from playing mom and dad will get their opportunity next month courtesy of the borough high school’s student council.

The  student council on Tuesday, Dec. 13, is scheduled to host “Parents Night Out” – where parents can drop off their kids at the high school cafeteria and spend the night dining out, finishing their holiday shopping or just lounging around for a few hours, said Jacquelyn Goss, a Point Pleasant schools spokeswoman.

Student and adult volunteers will staff the event – which will include games, crafts, a movie and snacks and drinks for the kids -- providing a safe and controlled atmosphere so parents can focus on themselves for a change, Goss said.

While the event is free, donations to benefit the student council and other school activities and scholarships are encouraged, Goss said.

Capacity is limited to 70 children, so parents are encouraged to preregister as soon as possible, Goss said. The event is restricted to Point Boro residents only and children must be more than 2 years old and potty trained.
