Nearly Half of Point Beach HS Student Body Participating in Football Game

With its first championship run since 1982, excitement for Friday's Garnet Gulls football game is high, Superintendent John A. Ravally said.
Point Beach will now play Shore on Wednesday for the Class B Central title and then play Shore again in the sectional final in a bid to win the first state title in program history, according to Shore Sports Network.
Ravally said a large portion, nearly half, of the high school student body participates in football or its support activities.
Between the football team roster, cheerleading squads, and band members, nearly half of the school will be participating in Friday's game, he said.
"And then there's those going to watch," he said. "We have a lot of active students, those who are in a service club are also in an honor society, or participate in sports or band."
The discussion over participation came after a request for student involvement at the Point Pleasant Beach tree lighting, which also happens on Friday.
