The story begins when rock-n-roll superstar and teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie prepares to join the Army.

Before he goes off to fight for his country, his agent stages the publicity stunt of the year: one lucky fan will win a goodbye kiss from Birdie on the nationally televised Ed Sullivan show.

The lucky winner is all American-girl Kim McAfee, whose sudden fame creates chaos in her small town and in her life.

Songs included in this fun energetic musical are: "The Telephone Hour," "One Boy," "One Last Kiss," "A Lot of Livin’ to Do," "Kids" and "Put on a Happy Face."
