Michael Spader and James Ireland are running unopposed for their three-year Point Beach Board of Eduation seats in the Nov. 6 general election, according to the Ocean County Clerk's Office.
On Tuesday, candidates had to file at the county clerk's office in Toms River by 4 p.m. to run for election to school boards that changed their elections to the Nov. 6 general election.
Otherwise, Feb. 27 would have been the filing deadline to run in a board of education election in April, when the elections had been.
The change to November also means the Point Beach school tax levy was decided only by the board of education, not by a public vote.
A new state law allowed the move to November, including that proposed school tax levies no longer need to be put to a public vote unless they are increasing more than 2 percent from last year's levels.
Candidates will be listed in a separate section of the November ballot since school board elections are nonpartisan.
The list of current Point Beach board members is on the school district website.
