Region VI Wrestling: Finals Matchups

Wrestling is ongoing at Pine Belt Arena in Toms River; finals begin at 4:30 p.m.

By the end of today, 42 wrestlers will have earned their trips to Atlantic City next weekend for the NJSIAA Individual Wrestling Championships.

There have been some surprises along the way, some hard-fought bouts in the semifinals. Central's Jalen Ramos advanced to the final at 126 pounds, surprising Raritan's Nick Liguori, who finished fourth in the state in 2011.

Dan Wojtaszek of Brick scored a late escape to force overtime and then controlled St. John Vianney's Anthony Ferraro to win.

Several wrestlers remain alive in wrestlebacks to reach the third-place bouts as well, with those bouts continuing for another hour or so.

The third-place bouts begin at 2:30 p.m. and the finals start at 4:30 p.m.
