Pick-a-Park Walk and Clean-up Day

April 28th is Pick-a-Park Walk and Clean-up Day

The program is being presented by the Climate Action Committee of Point Pleasant Borough (CAC) in support of the Mayor’s Wellness Program Initiative (www.mayorswellnesscampaign.org), The Environmental Commission, and The Borough of Point Pleasant’s Community Watch Program.

Riverfront Park, Beaver Dam Park and Community Park are just a few locations used by all local residents each year for exercise, playing sports, dog walking, and to enjoy the outdoors.  The goal for Pick-a-Park Walk and Clean-up Day is to combine cleanup efforts for our community parks and other high use areas in town and implement an active-living initiative in the community with the ultimate goal of improving health to the residents.  We encourage as many people as possible to walk or bike from park to park as your mode of transportation. This event will be a fun and effective way to improve our health as well as natural environment while making the parks cleaner, safer recreational areas for the community.

We will meet at Borough Hall at 8:30am where a light snack will be provided by the Community Watch Program.  From there we will disperse to specified areas designated by Borough’s DPW.  An on-site project leader will provide direction and supplies.  Trash bags have been donated by Beaver Dam Hardware and The Department of Public Works (via Clean Communities Program Grant).  We encourage you to wear old clothes, sturdy shoes (boots if you have them), and bring your gardening gloves from home. The refuse that is collected will be separated into trash, recycling and bulk. Refuse will be dropped off at specified areas designated by Borough’s DPW for pick up on Monday morning.  Community Service Points are available for students.
