Point Pleasant Predators Win National East Championship

New travel team getting ready for fall

The Point Pleasant Predators won baseball's National East Championship and is getting ready for its fall travel baseball season.

Team Manager John Guzzi, of Point Borough, and friends started the team last year and they played about 11 games this past season.

"Our sons have played recreation and other travel teams, but we wanted to start our own team," Guzzi said.

The team of 9-year-olds go to Ocean Road and Nellie Bennett, both in Point Borough, St. Peter's in Point Pleasant Beach and one player goes to Brick.

The team is in the United States Amateur Baseball League (USABL) "and the competition is fierce."

"We practiced all winter at Frozen Ropes Baseball Training Center in Lakewood and it definitely paid off," Guzzi said.

"This spring, we were crowned USABL 9U National East Champions," Guzzi said.

"We're entering tournaments this summer to get prepared for our fall travel baseball season," Guzzi said.
