Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival Sat. in Point Boro

Live bands, food, wine and beer at Riverfront Park from noon to 8 p.m.

The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Festival is scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Riverfront Park, Point Borough.

There will be live bands, food, wine, beer and fun for all ages at the park on the Manasquan River.

A prepared statement about the event says it will be held "rain or shine."

The headliner is "The Soul Project" featuring Eryn Shewell. "The Soul Project brings New Orleans soul with them wherever they go," according to the press release.

"Inspired by the music of the Meters, the Neville Brothers and Galactic, Soul Project has spent more than a decade perfecting the funk-soaked grooves that yield those all-consuming musical moments. Mixing elements of jazz, soul, blues and gospel with a real Crescent City feel, Soul Project draws crowds who come in to dance to their epic, high-energy sets– and keep returning for the band’s packed weekly gigs.

Eryn Shewell began singing with Soul Project at various gigs when she first emerged into the music scene. Known as the Jewel of New Jersey, Eryn’s incredible vocals have the capability to give even the most hardened critic chills.

She has been described to have the power to woo audiences into an amused silence, with a seductive range changing voice, bending and moving to the music. Eryn has performed her unique blend of blues rooted Americana infused with a taste of years gone by all over the east coast and beyond."
